All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rajkot, an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has issued advertisement number AIIMS/RJT/AS/SR/R-2/2026 for 88 Senior Resident (Non-Academic) posts. Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification (Department-wise)

• Most clinical departments: MD/MS/DNB in the relevant subject (recognised by NMC)
• Super-speciality departments (Burns & Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Paediatric Surgery, Urology): MCh/DrNB or MS/DNB in Surgery
• Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology: Both Medical (MD/DNB) and Non-medical candidates (M.Sc with Ph.D) can apply
• Dentistry: MDS in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery / Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics / Prosthodontics / Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry
• Trauma & Emergency: MD/MS/DNB in Anaesthesia / Emergency Medicine / General Medicine / General Surgery / Orthopaedics
• All PG medical degrees must be from institutions recognised by NMC / NDC (DCI)

Other Conditions

• Candidates appearing in qualifying exam can apply provisionally, but must pass by 31.08.2026
• Working candidates need NOC from employer at the time of document verification/interview
• A candidate can apply for maximum two departments with separate applications and fees

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 45 years (relaxable as per Government of India rules)
• Age Relaxation: OBC-NCL - 3 years, SC/ST - 5 years, PwBD - 10 years (max 56 years), Central Govt Employees - 5 years (with 3 years regular service), Ex-Servicemen / Commissioned Officers - 5 years
• SC/ST/OBC candidates who are also PwBD, Ex-Servicemen or Central Govt employees get cumulative relaxation if applying for reserved posts

Salary

• Selected candidates will get salary as per Pay Level-11 of the 7th CPC (Rs. 67,700 - Rs. 2,08,700 per month)
• Plus NPA (Non-Practising Allowance) for medical candidates
• Plus usual allowances (DA, HRA, TA) as per Government of India rules

Selection Process

Selection is based on the combined score of written test and interview with a weightage of 80:20:

1. Written Test: 40 multiple choice questions (MCQs), each carrying 2 marks (total 80 marks). Duration 40 minutes. Negative marking of 0.50 mark for each wrong answer
2. Shortlisting: Based on minimum qualifying marks in written test, candidates are shortlisted in order of merit for interview
3. Document Verification: Conducted before the interview to confirm eligibility
4. Interview: Conducted by the selection committee at AIIMS Rajkot
5. Final Merit: 80% written test + 20% interview marks
6. Medical Fitness: Appointment is subject to clearance by the Medical Board at AIIMS Rajkot

• Provide clinical care to patients in the assigned department under the supervision of consultants

• Participate in academic activities like seminars, journal clubs and case presentations
• Help in training MBBS interns, junior residents and nursing staff
• Follow AIIMS Rajkot standard operating procedures and patient safety protocols
• Contribute to clinical research and quality improvement projects in the department
