The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI), located in Mysuru, Karnataka, is one of India's leading food science and technology research laboratories. This recruitment is for a contractual research position under the project titled "Smart Lipids for Metabolic Health: Scale-Up and Preclinical Evaluation for Hyperlipidemia Management and Disease Prevention" (Project No. GAP669), funded by ICMR. The engagement is initially for 10 months and may be extended up to 2 years based on project requirements. Who Can Apply?

• Essential Qualification: You must hold a Post Graduate (PG) Degree, including an Integrated PG degree, in Biochemistry or Biotechnology from a recognized university.
• Desirable Qualification: Hands-on experience in lipid extraction and analysis, cell culture techniques, and small experimental animal handling. Candidates who have qualified national-level eligibility exams such as CSIR-UGC NET (JRF/LS), GATE, DBT-BET, ICMR-JRF, or equivalent will be preferred.
• Important: You must have already acquired the essential qualification by the last date of application. Result awaited or final semester candidates are not eligible.
• CSIR Tenure Rule: Candidates who have already completed 6 years as Project Staff across any CSIR labs or institutes are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years as on 8 April 2026 (the closing date of applications)
• SC/ST/PwBD/Women: 5 years relaxation (upper age limit becomes 40 years)
• OBC: 3 years relaxation (upper age limit becomes 38 years)

Stipend and Allowances

• Monthly Stipend: Rs. 28,000
• House Rent Allowance (HRA): 20% of stipend (Rs. 5,600)
• Total Monthly Emolument: Approximately Rs. 33,600
• Stipend is as per ICMR (the funding agency) norms

Selection Process

1. Shortlisting: A designated committee will screen all applications and shortlist candidates based on qualifications, percentage of marks, higher qualifications, and desirable experience. The shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the CSIR-CFTRI website.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The final selection will be based entirely on your performance in the interview. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.

Note: In case of a large number of applications, the committee may apply additional criteria such as percentage of marks in essential qualification, higher educational qualifications, or desirable experience to restrict the number of candidates called for interview.

• Conduct R&D activities aligned with the project objectives, focusing on fats and oils research
• Perform biochemical analysis and related laboratory experiments under supervision
• Handle cell culture studies including maintenance and experimentation with cell lines
• Manage and handle small experimental animals (rat and mouse models) for preclinical evaluations
• Carry out gene and protein expression analysis related to lipid metabolism pathways
• Operate basic laboratory instrumentation techniques for data collection and analysis
• Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, observations, and results
• Assist the Principal Investigator in preparing research reports, presentations, and publications
