The Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), Haryana has announced the recruitment of 31 Planning Officers on a contractual basis. These officers will be posted at the Chandigarh headquarters or at various district headquarters across Haryana. Selection is entirely merit-based through your GATE score — there is no written exam or interview. This is a good opportunity for urban planning graduates and GATE-qualified candidates looking to gain hands-on experience in government town planning projects.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification (Option 1): You need a Post Graduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Regional Planning, or M.Tech in Planning (Urban, Traffic and Transport, Housing, Infrastructure, Environment) or an equivalent degree that makes you eligible for associate membership of the Institute of Town Planners, India.
  • Qualification (Option 2): You can also apply with a B.Tech degree in Planning from a recognized institute or university.
  • GATE Score (Mandatory): You must have a valid GATE score in Architecture and Planning (Paper Code: AR) from GATE 2024, 2025, or 2026. If you have qualified GATE more than once, you can use the scorecard with the highest score.
  • Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.
  • Reservation certificates: Reserved category candidates (SC, BC-A, BC-B, EWS, Ex-Serviceman, PwD) must hold a valid Haryana Bonafide Resident certificate and relevant category certificate.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 42 years old as on 01 March 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: Standard relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Ex-Serviceman categories as per Haryana Government rules.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will receive a fixed salary of Rs. 50,000 per month (all inclusive).
  • This is a purely temporary contractual engagement for 11 months. The contract may be extended based on performance and departmental requirements.
  • There is no scope for regularization of this contractual position.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam or interview for this recruitment. Selection is entirely based on your GATE score:

  1. Merit List Based on GATE Score: Your GATE 2024, 2025 or 2026 (Architecture & Planning) score will determine your rank. Equal weightage is given to all three years. Higher score means higher rank.
  2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification at the DTCP office in Sector 18A, Chandigarh. You must carry original certificates and one set of self-attested photocopies.
  3. Final Result: After document verification, the final merit list (including a wait list valid for 6 months) will be published on the department website.

Tie-breaking rules: If two candidates have the same GATE score, the older candidate ranks higher. If both score and date of birth match, the candidate with higher marks in their Bachelor's degree is ranked higher.

How to Apply

  1. Download the CV proforma (Annexure-A) from the official notification available at tcpharyana.gov.in.
  2. Fill in the CV proforma with your personal details, educational qualifications, GATE passing year, and GATE score.
  3. Prepare scanned copies of all required documents — educational certificates from Matriculation onwards, photograph (white background, 200x230 pixels, 20-50 KB), signature (black ink on white paper, 140x60 pixels, 10-20 KB), Aadhaar card, and reservation certificates if applicable.
  4. Compile all documents into the format specified: one PDF for qualification and GATE documents, one PDF for reservation certificates.
  5. Send your completed CV along with all documents via email to planningofficer.2627@gmail.com before 06 April 2026.
  6. No documents sent by post or any offline medium will be accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare town planning schemes and development plans for urban and rural areas in Haryana
  • Review and process building plan approvals and change of land use applications
  • Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess land use compliance
  • Assist senior planners in formulating zoning regulations and controlled area notifications
  • Prepare reports, maps, and GIS-based spatial analysis for planning proposals
  • Coordinate with district authorities and municipal bodies on planning matters
  • Monitor unauthorized construction and encroachments in planned areas
  • Handle public grievances related to town planning permissions and approvals

Minimum Qualification

B.Tech in Planning OR PG in Urban/Regional Planning with GATE (AR) 2024/2025/2026

Preferred Qualification

Associate membership of the Institute of Town Planners, India
