Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Chairperson Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a statutory body set up under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. It is responsible for laying down science-based standards for food articles and regulating their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import across the country. The Chairperson heads the Authority and exercises all powers and functions prescribed under the Act. This vacancy supersedes the earlier advertisement published in Employment News on 17 August 2024, so if you applied before, you will need to apply afresh. The FSSAI Head Office is located in Delhi.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must be a person of eminence in the field of Food Science, OR a person from Administration who has been associated with food safety and standards.
• Administrative Rank: You must be currently holding or must have held a position not below the rank of Secretary to the Government of India.
• Desirable: Relevant work experience related to Central or State Regulatory Bodies is a desirable qualification.
• Citizenship: Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.

Age Limit and Tenure

• You can hold office until the age of 65 years.
• The tenure is 3 years from the date of joining, with eligibility for reappointment for another 3 years or until you turn 65, whichever comes first.
• The effective date for determining eligibility (qualification, age, experience) is the closing date of receipt of applications.

Salary

• Fixed monthly salary: Rs. 2,25,000 per month
• Plus allowances as per guidelines issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT)

Selection Process

Selection will involve the following:

1. Screening of Applications: The government will review all applications received by the closing date. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview or selection process as determined by the Central Government.
3. Document Verification: All claims regarding qualifications, experience, and rank will be verified before final appointment.
