JNCASR Research Associate Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), an autonomous institution under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, is looking for a Research Associate to work in the Theoretical Science Unit. You will be working under the guidance of Prof. Swapan K Pati at the Jakkur campus in Bengaluru. This is a temporary research position focused on computational science, particularly classical molecular dynamics and machine learning-based interaction potentials. Candidates with a doctoral degree or strong research background in science and engineering are encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply?

Option 1 - Doctoral Degree Holders:

• Qualification: You need a Ph.D, MD, MS, MDS, or an equivalent degree in a relevant field.

Option 2 - Post-Graduate Degree Holders with Research Experience:

• Qualification: You need an MVSc, M.Pharm, M.E., or M.Tech degree with at least 3 years of research, teaching, design, and development experience.
• Publication: You must have at least one research paper published in a Science Citation Index (SCI) journal.

Desirable Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of Classical Molecular Dynamics
• Expertise in Free energy methods
• Experience with Machine learning approaches for developing interaction potentials

Candidates currently employed or pursuing a Ph.D must provide a 'No Objection Certificate' from their current employer or Ph.D supervisor (applies to outside candidates only).

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years

Salary

• RA-I: Rs. 58,000 per month (entry level)
• RA-II: Rs. 61,000 per month
• RA-III: Rs. 67,000 per month
• The exact salary will be fixed based on your experience and qualifications.
• You will also get 30% House Rent Allowance (HRA) on top of your monthly salary.

Selection Process

Selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Shortlisting: Based on your qualifications, research experience, and publications. The list of shortlisted candidates will be posted on the JNCASR website along with the interview date.
2. Interview / Technical Discussion: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview or technical discussion, which may also include a personal interaction round.
