MoEFCC Scientific Consultant Grade-I (Finance/Economics) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Climate Change Division, has invited applications for the post of Scientific Consultant Grade-I (Finance/Economics) on a purely contractual basis. The consultant will assist the Climate Change Division in compiling, analysing, and synthesising research on climate change and will support India's climate finance-related work under international frameworks like the UNFCCC and Paris Agreement. The post is based at MoEFCC Headquarters, New Delhi. This is a high-impact role suited to candidates with strong research backgrounds in climate finance and economics.

Essential Qualification

Selection Process

The selection is done in 2 stages:

Responsibilities

  • Analyse research papers, reports, and articles on climate change published by reputed international organisations
  • Prepare internal reports and briefs on climate finance, carbon markets, and climate mitigation strategies
  • Examine schemes and programmes of Central and State Government Ministries relevant to India's climate action
  • Prepare position papers, joint statements, and press briefs on India's Climate Action for bilateral and multilateral meetings
  • Coordinate logistic arrangements for bilateral, plurilateral, and multilateral climate meetings
  • Work on climate finance databases, including Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement
  • Review UNFCCC documents on emerging technologies, carbon capture, and modelled climate pathways
  • Report to the Director/Deputy Secretary/Under Secretary under the overall supervision of Joint Secretary, MoEFCC

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Master's Degree in Economics from a recognised university

Preferred Qualification

Ph.D. or M.Phil. in Economics; experience in climate finance; publications in peer-reviewed journals

Required Skills

Climate finance expertise, research and analytical skills, excellent communication and writing skills, familiarity with UNFCCC and IPCC frameworks

18 - 40 years

Pay Scale

Rs. 90,000/- per month (consolidated, contractual)
