Who Can Apply?

You must be an Indian citizen who is a native or resident of the Union Territory of Puducherry for at least 5 years before the notification date. Each post has different qualification requirements:

Draughtsman Grade-II (1005/2026)

  • A Diploma in Civil Engineering from any recognized institution, OR
  • Certificate of Technical Examination in Engineering from the State Board of Technical Examination and Training, Madras, Tamil Nadu

Draughtsman Grade-I (1006/2026)

  • A Degree in Civil Engineering from any recognized university, OR
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering with 3 years of experience

Foreman (1010/2026)

  • A Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university, OR
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years of experience maintaining machineries and equipment in a port or reputable organization, OR
  • Part 'A' MOT Certificate of competency as 2nd Class Engineer (Motor); one-year minimum experience on 'Dredger' is desirable

Assistant Environmental Engineer (1011/2026)

  • Degree in Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering from a recognized university

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 30 years as on 13.04.2026 (the closing date for online application)
  • MBC/OBC: 3 years relaxation (max 33 years) — for post codes 1005, 1010, 1011
  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation (max 35 years)
  • Ex-Servicemen: Period of military service plus 3 years
  • PwBD: 10 years relaxation (over and above SC/ST/OBC relaxation)
  • Widows/Divorced Women: Up to 35 years (40 years for SC/ST)
  • In-service applicants: 5 years relaxation for government servants in feeder cadre

Note: Posts 1010/2026 (Foreman) and 1011/2026 (Assistant Environmental Engineer) are not suitable for PwBD category.

Selection Process

  1. Written Competitive Examination — Objective type, OMR-based, consisting of two papers:
    • Paper-I (Common Paper): 100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours — covers General Intelligence & Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Studies & Current Affairs, Ethics & Morality, English Language, Computer Knowledge
    • Paper-IIB (Subject-Specific): 100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours — different syllabus for each post (Civil Engineering topics for Draughtsman posts; Mechanical Engineering topics for Foreman; Environmental Engineering topics for AEE)
  2. Weightage: Paper-I gets 25% weightage and Paper-IIB gets 75% weightage in the final merit
  3. Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer
  4. Certificate Verification — Shortlisted candidates (3x vacancies) called for verification of original documents

Minimum qualifying marks: UR — 30%, OBC/MBC/EBC/BCM/BT/EWS — 25%, SC/ST/PwBD/XSM — 20%.

Exam language: Paper-I is bilingual (English + Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam). Paper-IIB is in English only.
