Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Joint Advisor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released notification No. 1-04/2026-HR dated 11 March 2026 for filling up the post of Joint Advisor at its Regional Office Bhopal. TRAI is a statutory body set up under the TRAI Act, 1997 to regulate telecommunications services and protect the interests of service providers and consumers. This is a deputation post with an initial tenure of three years (or till superannuation, whichever is earlier). Serving Group A officers with relevant experience in telecom, economics, law, or management fields should apply.

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility Criteria (Deputation):

You must be an officer from the Central Government, State Government, Union Territory Administration, autonomous body, statutory organisation, PSU, recognised university, or recognised research institution. You need to meet one of these service conditions:

• Route 1: You should be holding an analogous post (Joint Advisor level / Level-13) on regular basis in your parent cadre or department.
• Route 2: You should have at least 4 years of regular service in Level-12 (Rs. 78,800 - 2,09,200) or equivalent in your parent cadre or department.
• Route 3: You should have at least 12 years of regular service in Group A or equivalent, and must have held a post in Level-11 or equivalent on regular basis for not less than 6 years.

Essential Qualification and Experience:

You must have experience in the relevant field and one or more of these qualifications:

• Engineering: Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or Computer Science Engineering recognised by AICTE.
• General Disciplines: Master's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Engineering, Law, Science, or Humanities from a university or institute recognised by UGC.
• Professional Membership: Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) or the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India (ICMAI).

Age Limit

• Maximum age for deputation: 56 years on the last date of submission of applications in TRAI (i.e., as on 19 April 2026).

Salary

• Pay Level-13 in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix: Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900 per month (basic pay).
• Plus Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other allowances as per Central Government rules.
• The deputation terms are governed by DoP&T OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay II) dated 17 June 2010, as amended.

Selection Process

Since this is a deputation post, there is no written exam. Selection will be based on:

1. Screening of Applications: Your application, service record, and APARs will be reviewed.
2. Evaluation of APARs: Attested copies of ACRs/APARs for the last 5 years will be assessed.
3. Vigilance and Cadre Clearance: Your parent department must provide vigilance/disciplinary clearance and cadre clearance.
4. Interview (if applicable): Shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview or interaction.

• Advise TRAI on telecom regulatory matters and policy analysis at the regional level
• Monitor quality of telecom and broadcasting services in the assigned region
• Handle consumer grievances and complaints related to telecom service providers
• Prepare reports and recommendations on regional telecom market conditions
• Coordinate with state government bodies and telecom operators on regulatory compliance
• Manage day-to-day operations of the TRAI Regional Office
• Assist in implementing TRAI regulations and directives at the regional level
