Selection Process

For the Personal Assistant post, selection happens in two stages. First, you take a Stenography Proficiency Test (dictation at 80 WPM for 5 minutes + 45-minute transcription). Only those who clear this qualifying test move to the written exam. For UDC and Librarian posts, there is only one stage — the written exam. The final merit list is prepared based entirely on written exam marks.

Preparation Tips for APSSB CGLE 2026 Exam

  1. Focus equally on all four sections — each carries 50 marks, so no section is more important than another
  2. Practice General Awareness thoroughly — expect questions on Arunachal Pradesh-specific topics alongside national current affairs
  3. Work on speed — you get 2 hours for 100 questions, which is about 1 minute 12 seconds per question

Exam Pattern

The written exam is an Objective Type Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) paper worth 200 marks. You get 2 hours to complete it. There are 100 questions (25 questions per section), with each question carrying 2 marks.

No negative marking. Minimum 33% aggregate marks required to qualify. No sectional cut-off — only overall aggregate matters.

For PA post (Post Code 12/26): A Stenography Proficiency Test is conducted before the written exam as a qualifying stage. Dictation at 80 WPM for 5 minutes, followed by 45-minute computer-based transcription. 8% error permissible for APST candidates, 10% for others. This is qualifying only — marks are not counted for final merit.
