ASTEC Junior Assistant & Junior Accounts Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 4 Posts

Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC), based at Bigyan Bhawan on G.S. Road in Guwahati, is looking to fill 4 vacant positions through this recruitment drive. ASTEC works under the Science and Technology Department of the Government of Assam and is involved in scientific research, environmental awareness, and technology development across the state. Vacancy Details

Note: Out of the 3 Junior Assistant posts, one post will prefer candidates with a Commerce background.

Who Can Apply?

For Junior Assistant (3 Posts):

• Qualification: You need a Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Science, or Commerce from a recognised university.
• Typing Requirement: You must have a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute in English and 25 words per minute in Assamese.
• One post out of three will give preference to candidates with a Commerce background.

For Junior Accounts Assistant (1 Post):

• Qualification: You need a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce with a major in Accountancy from a recognised university.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 38 years old as on 31 January 2026.
• Age Relaxation: As per Government of Assam rules for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD categories.

Salary

• Junior Assistant: Pay Band-2 of Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 49,000 per month with Grade Pay of Rs. 6,200.
• Junior Accounts Assistant: Pay Band-2 of Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 49,000 per month with Grade Pay of Rs. 7,400.
• You will also receive DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Government of Assam rules.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 3 stages:

For Junior Assistant:

1. Academic Record Scrutiny: Your academic marks will be evaluated out of 100 — HSLC (25 marks), Higher Secondary (25 marks), and Graduation (50 marks).
2. Written Test: Candidates will be shortlisted at a 1:10 ratio based on academic scores. The written test will have 100 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. Questions will be of Class X standard covering Mathematics, General Science, English, Social Studies, and Current Affairs.
3. Skill Test: Based on written test performance, candidates will be called at a 1:3 ratio. The skill test covers computer typing (DTP) in English and Assamese, MS-Excel, PowerPoint presentation, and web-surfing.

Final result will be based on combined marks of the written test and skill test.

For Junior Accounts Assistant:

1. Written Test: The test carries 150 marks with MCQs covering General Knowledge, English Language, Reasoning and Arithmetic, Book Keeping, and Accounts-related questions.
2. Skill Test: This 50-mark test will assess your practical knowledge of Information Technology, Tally software, Taxation, and Auditing in a computer lab.

Final result will be based on the aggregate marks of both the written and skill tests.
