The Directorate of Land Records & Surveys etc., Assam (DLRS) has officially released a recruitment advertisement for filling up 552 Land Records Assistant (LRA) posts across the state. This recruitment is being conducted under the Assam Land Records Sub-Ordinate Service Rules (Amendment), 2025. This is one of the largest recruitments by DLRS Assam in recent years, making it a great opportunity for candidates who have completed the Recorder Certificate Class Course (RCCC) Training. Who Can Apply?

  • Educational Qualification: You must have passed HSLC (Class 10) or equivalent examination from any Central or State recognized Board.
  • RCCC Training: You must have successfully completed the 6-month Recorder Certificate Class Course (RCCC) Training from the Assam Surveys & Settlement Training Centre, Dakhingaon, Guwahati. This training must have been completed as per advertisement issued by the Office of the Director of Land Records, Assam (except Sixth Schedule districts and other States).
  • Computer Skills: You need proficiency in using computers and information technology, with a minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute in Assamese or Bengali.
  • In-Service Candidates: If you are already working in government service, you must apply through proper channel.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 21 and 40 years old as on 01 January 2025.
  • Your age will be calculated on the basis of your Class X / Class XII Examination Admit Card, Pass Certificate, or Mark Sheet issued by a recognized Central/State Board/Council where your date of birth is clearly mentioned.
  • Age Relaxation: Relaxation for SC, ST, OBC/MOBC, PwD and other reserved categories is applicable as per existing Government of Assam rules.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get a salary in the range of Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 70,000 per month under Pay Band-2 (PB-2).
  • In addition, you will receive a Grade Pay of Rs. 6,200 per month.
  • You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Government of Assam rules.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages, carrying a total of 100 marks:

  1. Written Examination (Paper-I) — 80 Marks: Objective type MCQs covering Mathematics (Class X Standard) for 10 marks, Conventional Survey for 50 marks, and Modern Survey for 20 marks. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Only candidates who clear the minimum qualifying marks (category-wise) will move to the next stage.
  2. Skill Test — Computer Proficiency (Paper-II) — 20 Marks: This is a practical test that will check your Assamese or Bengali Unicode typing skills, basic computer operations, document preparation and formatting, data entry, file handling, and printing.

Minimum Qualifying Marks:

  • UR (40%): Written Test — 32 marks, Skill Test — 8 marks
  • OBC/MOBC/STP/STH/SC/PwD (30%): Written Test — 24 marks, Skill Test — 6 marks

Responsibilities

  • Conduct land surveys and maintain accurate land records for assigned revenue circles
  • Prepare and update cadastral maps, plot measurements, and boundary records
  • Handle mutation cases and process land ownership transfer records
  • Enter and manage land record data using government software systems and digital platforms
  • Assist senior officers in settlement operations, land revenue collection, and dispute resolution
  • Maintain field books, survey registers, and other official land documentation
  • Verify land boundaries during field inspections and report discrepancies to higher authorities

Exam Pattern

The competitive examination has 2 components, carrying a total of 100 marks.

Paper-I: Written Examination (80 Marks)
