About This Opportunity
The Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards, Meghalaya is enrolling Part-Time Platoon Havildars for the Border Wing Home Guards Battalion. If you have been serving as a Home Guard Volunteer for at least five years with any requisitioning agency and hold a Meghalaya domicile, this could be your next step up in the Home Guards hierarchy.
The initial deployment is for 1 year, which may be extended based on your performance. Keep in mind that this is a temporary and voluntary position — there is no path to regularization or permanent retention through this enrollment. Deployed volunteers can be dismissed at any time without assigning a reason.
Selection Process
Selection is through a Personal Interview that will be conducted at two centres — Tura and Shillong. No separate interview call letters will be sent, so you need to keep checking the official website (meghomeguards.gov.in) and departmental notice boards regularly. Be prepared to stay for 2-3 days at your own expense since no TA/DA is provided for attending the interview.
How to Submit Your Application
You need to fill in the Prescribed Standard Form and submit it along with self-attested copies of all required documents. Applications can be sent by hand or by post to your respective District Home Guards Office, Officers Commanding District Training Centre, or Civil Defence Office where you are currently deployed. Make sure your application reaches before 6 April 2026 — late or incomplete applications will be rejected outright.
