Madhya Pradesh Employee Selection Board (MPESB), also known as Madhya Pradesh Karmchari Chayan Mandal, has announced a massive combined recruitment drive to fill 2,500 vacancies for Group 4 and Assistant Grade 3 positions. These posts span over 56 different departments and organisations of the Madhya Pradesh state government, including directorates, commissions, boards, corporations, and district-level offices across the state. Both direct recruitment and backlog vacancies are covered under this single notification. Who Can Apply?
For Assistant Grade 3, Stenotypist, Shorthand Writer, Data Entry Operator, IT Operator and Similar Posts:
- Education: You must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) from a recognised board or institution.
- Computer Diploma: You need a one-year Computer Diploma or Certificate from a recognised institution. Accepted certifications include:
- UGC-recognised university diploma
- DOEACC / NIELIT diploma level exam
- Government Polytechnic College - Modern Office Management course
- Government ITI - COPA (Computer Operator and Programming Assistant) certificate
- NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) or SCVT certificate
- CPCT Score Card: You must have a valid Computer Proficiency Certification Test (CPCT) score card conducted by the MP Professional Examination Board. Hindi typing at 20 words per minute and English typing at 30 words per minute is required.
- Shorthand (for Stenotypist/Stenographer): Hindi shorthand at 100 words per minute from a recognised institution with passing grade. For English stenographer, 100 words per minute in English shorthand. For Ashulipik/Stenotypist, 80 words per minute in Hindi shorthand.
- Domicile: Only permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh can apply for reserved category posts. Non-MP residents can only apply for Unreserved/Open category posts.
- Nationality: You must be a citizen of India or Nepal.
For Other Equivalent Posts (Cook Grade-2, Garden Supervisor, etc.):
- Education: Higher Secondary (10+2) passed and departmental-specific qualifications as per the departmental recruitment rules.
Age Limit
- You should be between 18 and 40 years old as on 01 January 2024 for posts recruited through open competition.
- For departmental candidates (government employees from MP departments, corporations, autonomous bodies, etc.), maximum age is 45 years with 5 years relaxation.
- SC/ST/OBC Age Relaxation: 5 years relaxation on maximum age limit for Madhya Pradesh domicile candidates belonging to SC, ST, and OBC categories.
- PwBD Relaxation: As per MP Government rules, persons with disabilities get additional age relaxation including VH (1.5%), EH (1.5%), LD (1.5%), and MD (1.5%) reservation in direct recruitment.
- Ex-Servicemen: Age relaxation applicable as per MP Government rules for ex-servicemen, including 10% and 20% horizontal reservation categories.
- Maximum age in any case: Even after combining all relaxations, the maximum age cannot exceed 45 years (excluding contractual employees, for whom it is Rule 14).
Salary
- Pay Level 4 (most AG-3 posts): Rs 19,500 to Rs 62,000 per month
- Pay Level 5: Rs 22,100 to Rs 70,000 per month
- Pay Level 6: Rs 25,300 to Rs 62,000 per month
- Pay Level 7 (some senior AG-3 posts): Rs 28,700 to Rs 91,300 per month
- You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other allowances as per Madhya Pradesh State Government rules.
- Note: As per MP Government circular dated 12 December 2019, minimum salary during probation period will be paid at 70% in first year, 80% in second year, and 90% in third year of the stipend amount.

Selection Process
The selection will be done through a Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted by MPESB:
- Written Examination (Online CBT): A combined aptitude test of 100 marks covering General Knowledge, General Hindi, General English, General Mathematics, General Computer Knowledge, and General Aptitude (Reasoning). This is a single paper objective type exam.
- Merit List Preparation: Based on marks scored in the written exam, separate merit lists will be prepared for each category and post. Minimum qualifying marks apply: 50% for general category candidates, 40% for SC/ST/OBC and PwD candidates from Madhya Pradesh.
- Document Verification: Successful candidates from the merit list will be called for verification of educational certificates, age proof, caste certificate, domicile, CPCT score card, and other relevant documents.
- Appointment: Final appointment by the respective departments based on the merit list and document verification results.
Note: For posts requiring shorthand or stenography skills, additional skill tests (Hindi/English shorthand at prescribed speeds) will be conducted as per departmental rules.

Responsibilities
- Handle file processing, drafting letters, and maintaining official records in the assigned office
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and government communications in Hindi and English
- Enter data accurately into government software systems and maintain digital databases
- Assist senior officers with daily administrative tasks and meeting coordination
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, dispatch registers, and office inventory
- Take dictation in shorthand and transcribe notes for stenography positions

Exam Pattern
The MPESB Group 4 / AG-3 written examination is a Computer Based Test (CBT) with 100 objective-type questions carrying 100 marks total.
Subject-wise Breakdown
- General Knowledge (Samanya Gyan): Current affairs, Indian history, geography, polity, economy
- General Hindi (Samanya Hindi): Grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, letter writing
- General English (Samanya Angrezi): Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension
- General Mathematics (Samanya Ganit): Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data interpretation
- General Computer Knowledge (Samanya Computer Gyan): MS Office, internet basics, computer fundamentals
- General Aptitude / Reasoning (Samanya Abhiruchi): Logical reasoning, analytical ability, number series, pattern recognition
Qualifying Marks:
- General / Unreserved: 50% (minimum qualifying cutoff)
