University of Madras Project Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

University of Madras (UNOM), one of the oldest universities in India, has invited applications for the post of Project Assistant at its National Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (NCNN), Guindy Campus, Chennai. The position is under a CMRG-funded research project titled "Self-assembled hemagglutinin mimetic peptide spike nanovaccine for cross-protective immunity against pneumonia", supervised by Dr. M. Jeyaraj, Assistant Professor. This is a purely temporary, project-based appointment co-terminus with the project duration of three years. Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

  • You need an M.Sc. or M.Tech in any of these subjects: Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, or Microbiology
  • You must have a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA in your Master's degree
  • You must have a consistently good academic record
  • Final year students of M.Sc./M.Tech are also eligible to apply

Desirable (Preferred) Skills

  • Hands-on experience in Nanomaterial Synthesis
  • Experience in Cell Culture techniques
  • Familiarity with Immunological Assay techniques

Salary

  • Fellowship: Rs. 25,000 per month (consolidated)
  • Fellowship period: 3 years
  • Note: This is a project-based consolidated fellowship, not a regular pay-scale post

Responsibilities

  • Assist in research activities related to nanovaccine synthesis and characterisation under the CMRG project
  • Handle nanomaterial synthesis experiments as directed by the Principal Investigator
  • Conduct cell culture procedures following established lab protocols and safety guidelines
  • Perform immunological assay techniques and record observations accurately
  • Maintain lab records, data logs, and experimental notebooks in an organised manner
  • Prepare samples, reagents, and equipment required for daily research work
  • Report experimental findings and assist in writing project reports and research publications

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

M.Sc./M.Tech in Nanotechnology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Biomedical Science/Microbiology with minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA

Preferred Qualification

Hands-on experience in Nanomaterial Synthesis, Cell Culture and Immunological Assay techniques
