UPSSSC Havaldar Instructor Recruitment 2026 — 209 Posts

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), Lucknow has released Advertisement No. 11-Exam/2026 for the direct recruitment of 209 Havaldar Instructor posts under the Homeguard Headquarters, Uttar Pradesh. This is a Group C post and the application process runs from 19 June to 9 July 2026. Only candidates who appeared in PET-2025 and were issued a scorecard by UPSSSC are eligible to apply for this Main Examination. 52 posts are reserved for Home Guard voluntary personnel and unpaid officers under horizontal reservation (25% of category quota).

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• You must have passed Intermediate (10+2) from a recognised Board or institution.
• For unpaid departmental Home Guard employees only: High School (10th pass) is sufficient.
• You must have appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 (Preliminary Eligibility Test) and hold a valid scorecard issued by UPSSSC. Applications without a PET-2025 score will not be accepted.
• Candidates who scored zero or negative marks in PET-2025 are not eligible for shortlisting.

Preferred Qualification (Extra Credit in Selection)

• Served at least 2 years in the Territorial Army, OR
• Holds a NCC 'B' Certificate, OR
• Has worked in the Home Guard organisation for at least 3 continuous years.

Domicile

• Reservation benefits are available only for residents of Uttar Pradesh. Non-UP domicile candidates applying under reserved categories will be treated as Unreserved.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Maximum age: 40 years
• Age reference date: 01 January 2026
• SC/ST/OBC: Upper age relaxation as per UP Government rules.
• Unpaid Home Guard employees (3+ years of service): 2 additional years relaxation in upper age limit.
• State Government employees: 5 years relaxation in upper age limit.

Salary

• Pay Level: Level-3 (7th Pay Commission)
• Minimum pay: Rs. 21,700 per month (entry pay)
• Maximum pay: Rs. 69,100 per month
• Plus DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Uttar Pradesh Government rules.

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates

• General / OBC / SC: Height — 167.7 cm (minimum); Chest unexpanded — 78.8 cm; Chest expanded — 83.8 cm
• Hill area candidates: Height — 162.6 cm; Chest unexpanded — 76.5 cm; Chest expanded — 81.5 cm
• Scheduled Tribe (ST): Height — 160 cm; Chest unexpanded — 76.5 cm; Chest expanded — 81.5 cm

For Female Candidates

• General / OBC / SC: Height — 152 cm (minimum)
• Hill area / ST: Height — 147 cm (minimum)

Candidates must be mentally and physically fit. Failing to meet the physical standards will make you ineligible for selection.

Application Fee

• All categories (UR / OBC / SC / ST / EWS): Rs. 25 (online processing fee only; application fee is zero)

Selection Process

Selection will be done in the following stages:

1. PET-2025 Score Based Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted for the Main Exam based on their PET-2025 normalised score. Up to 15 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) will be shortlisted.
2. Main Written Exam: 100 MCQ questions for 100 marks in 2 hours. Negative marking of 1/4 mark for each wrong answer. Based on written exam marks, candidates are shortlisted for further stages.
3. Physical Standard Test (PST): Height and chest measurement as per prescribed standards. Qualifying in nature.
4. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Male — 4.8 km run in 25 minutes; Female — 2.4 km run in 14 minutes. Qualifying in nature. Final merit is based on written exam marks only.

3. Log in using your PET-2025 Registration Number and OTP sent to your registered mobile/email.
4. Fill in the online application form with your personal, educational, and category details.
5. Verify your photo and signature (auto-filled from PET-2025 registration).
6. Pay the application fee of Rs. 25 online using your preferred payment method.
7. Submit the application and download/print your application form.
8. Complete fee reconciliation before 16 July 2026 if needed.

• Train Home Guard volunteers in drill, discipline, and basic paramilitary procedures
• Conduct physical fitness sessions and maintain training schedules for the unit

• Monitor and report on the performance and readiness of Home Guard personnel
• Follow all standing orders and departmental guidelines of the Homeguard Headquarters
