National Institute of Technology Warangal JRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) has invited applications for one JRF position under a research project sponsored by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). The project is titled "Development of an Integrated Multi-Scale Computational Platform for Modelling Laser Additive Manufacturing Processes — Part-2: Influence of Additive Manufacturing (LPBF Method) Parameters on Microstructural Development in Al Alloys". GATE score is NOT mandatory, and the selected JRF is also eligible to register for a Ph.D at NIT Warangal as per institute rules. Selection is purely through an interview.

Who Can Apply?

Option 1: B.Tech + M.Tech (with first class)

• B.Tech / B.E. or equivalent in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering / Mechanical Engineering AND
• M.Tech / M.E. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering or related fields
• Minimum 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG (GEN/OBC-NCL/EWS) or 55% / 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD

Option 2: B.Tech only (with higher cut-off)

• B.Tech / B.E. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering / Mechanical Engineering with at least 7.5/10 CGPA or 70% marks (GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL) or 7.0/10 CGPA or 65% marks (SC/ST/PwD)

Option 3: M.Tech in Materials Science / Nanoscience

• UG in Materials Science / Nanoscience and Nanotechnology AND
• M.Tech in Materials Science / Metallurgy / Nanoscience and Nanotechnology / Ceramic Engineering / Surface Engineering with first class marks (as above)

Desired Skills

• Preference for candidates qualified in GATE / UGC / CSIR / INSPIRE / NET
• Experience in Mechanical Metallurgy / Physical Metallurgy
• Experience in modelling and simulation using Abaqus / Ansys / Deform
• Hands-on with characterization techniques like SEM, TEM and XRD

Age Limit (as on commencement date of this notification)

• GEN / EWS: 30 years
• OBC-NCL: 33 years
• SC / ST / PwD / Female: 35 years

Salary

• First 2 years: Rs. 37,000 per month
• Third year: Rs. 42,000 per month
• HRA as per NIT Warangal rules
• On-campus Hostel and Mess facilities available subject to availability
• Eligible to register for a Ph.D degree at NIT Warangal (apply separately when Ph.D advertisement opens)

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on:

2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates attend an online or offline interview at NIT Warangal

• Procure equipment and consumables needed for the Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) experiments
• Conduct additive manufacturing experiments on Aluminium alloys under guidance of the Principal Investigator
• Build and run multi-scale computational models for laser additive manufacturing processes
• Use simulation tools such as Abaqus, Ansys or Deform to study microstructural development
• Carry out characterization of printed samples using SEM, TEM and XRD
• Analyse experimental and simulation results, and document them in research reports
• Prepare manuscripts for journal and conference publications
