National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) is hiring 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an ANRF-sponsored research project titled "Design of Al-Cu-Ce Alloys with addition of L1₂ phase-forming elements for high-temperature applications". If you have a B.Tech/B.E. and M.Tech/M.E. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related fields, you can apply. The stipend is Rs. 37,000 per month for the first 2 years and Rs. 42,000 per month for the 3rd year. The last date to apply through the Google Form is 11 June 2026 (11.59 pm). The position is purely temporary for 3 years.

NIT Warangal JRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post (ANRF Project)

National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal), Telangana - an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India - has invited applications for 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. The recruitment is under Advertisement No. MMED/SM/IRG-RS36008/JRF/ dated 11/05/2026 for an ANRF (Anusandhan National Research Foundation) sponsored research project led by Dr. Sukla Mondol. The project focuses on high-temperature aluminium alloys with L1₂ phase-forming additives. The position is for 3 years with HRA, on-campus hostel and mess facilities available. The selected candidate is also eligible to register for a Ph.D. degree at NIT Warangal as per institute rules.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification (Any one of the three options):

  • Option 1: B.Tech/B.E. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering AND M.Tech/M.E. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering or related fields, with first class with 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG for GEN/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS, or 55% / 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD. GATE score is NOT mandatory.
  • Option 2: B.Tech/B.E. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with CGPA 7.5/10 or 70% marks for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL or CGPA 7.0/10 or 65% for SC/ST/PwD. GATE score is NOT mandatory.
  • Option 3: Materials Science / Nanoscience and Nanotechnology with M.Tech. in Materials Science / Metallurgy / Nanoscience and Nanotechnology / Ceramic Engineering / Surface Engineering with 60% / 6.5 CGPA (UG and PG) for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL or 55% / 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates qualified in GATE / UGC / CSIR / INSPIRE / NET or any relevant national level exam.
  • Prior experience in characterization techniques (SEM/TEM/XRD etc.)
  • Relevant experience in Mechanical Metallurgy / Physical Metallurgy and modelling/simulation using Abaqus / Ansys / Deform software.

Age Limit

  • GEN / GEN-EWS: 30 years
  • OBC-NCL: 33 years
  • SC / ST / PwD / Female: 35 years
  • Age will be calculated as on the commencement date of this notification (11 May 2026).

Salary

  • Stipend for the first 2 years: Rs. 37,000 per month
  • Stipend for the 3rd year: Rs. 42,000 per month
  • HRA as per Government rules applicable to NIT Warangal
  • The selected candidate is eligible for on-campus Hostel and Mess facilities, subject to availability

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is interview based:

  1. Application Screening: Eligible candidates will be listed on the NIT Warangal website and intimated through email or phone.
  2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will attend an online or offline interview. If online, you must have a good internet connection and a working camera. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Responsibilities

  • Procure equipment and consumables required for the ANRF-sponsored research project on Al-Cu-Ce alloys
  • Conduct experiments related to the design and characterization of high-temperature aluminium alloys
  • Use characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM and XRD on alloy samples
  • Perform modelling and simulation using Abaqus, Ansys or Deform software where required
  • Interpret experimental and simulation results, and prepare technical reports for the project
  • Write research papers and present findings at conferences/seminars
  • Assist the principal investigator in the day-to-day execution of the project
  • Register for and pursue a Ph.D. degree at NIT Warangal as per institute rules, if eligible
